Eligibility & Age Limits


Different posts carry different educational requirements. Below are the essential criteria at a glance.

Junior Engineer Diploma or Degree in relevant Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, S&T, Civil etc.)
Depot Material Superintendent Diploma/Degree in Engineering (any discipline)
Chemical & Metallurgical B.Sc. (Physics & Chemistry) with minimum 55% marks

Age (as on 01-01-2026)


General: 18–33 years. Category relaxations apply as per government rules (OBC +3 years, SC/ST +5 years, PwBD additional relaxation, ex-servicemen concessions, etc.). Refer to the official notification for full details.


How to Apply — Online


Applications must be submitted through the official portal only. Follow these steps:
  1. Visit the official application website: rrbapply.gov.in
  2. Register using a valid email and mobile number
  3. Complete the online form, upload documents and pay the required fee
  4. Submit and save the application/print confirmation

The selection comprises four stages — two computer-based tests followed by document verification and a medical exam. Candidates must qualify each stage to move forward.

Exam Pattern — CBT Details


Both CBTs use objective (MCQ) format. Negative marking: one-third (⅓) mark for each wrong answer.

Syllabus Overview

  • Mathematics: Number systems, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, mensuration, ratio & proportion, time & work, percentages.
